Frequently Asked Questions

Lenormand, answered

Common questions about Lenormand, how the readings work, and what the cards can and can't do for you.

Is Lenormand really free?

Yes. Every reading, every card, every spread is free to use. There is no paywall, no premium tier, and no membership. We don't sell your readings or your data.

Do I need to sign up?

No. The site has no accounts, no logins, and no email signup. You can come, draw a few cards, and leave — nothing follows you.

How are the cards chosen?

When you start a spread, your browser shuffles a virtual 36-card deck and deals from it using your computer's built-in random number generator. Every reading is a fresh shuffle — no two readings draw the same cards in the same order.

Are reversed cards included?

No. Lenormand has no upright or reversed — each of the 36 cards stands on its own, with a single meaning that doesn't flip. This is one of the main differences from tarot, and one of the things that makes Lenormand so direct.

Are my readings saved?

No. Readings live in your browser tab only. Close the tab and they're gone — we don't store them anywhere. If you'd like to keep a reading, take a screenshot or copy the interpretation while it's on screen.

How do I read combinations?

Lenormand is read as a sentence rather than as a stack of separate meanings. Two or three cards together form a single phrase: Heart + Letter is a love letter, not 'love' then 'letter'. Every card page on this site lists how its card pairs with each of the other 35, so you can read combinations as you go.

Can Lenormand predict the future?

We don't think so, and we don't recommend using it that way. Lenormand is at its best as a tool for reflection — a way of surfacing what you already sense and looking at it from a different angle. The cards don't decide what happens; you do.

What kind of question should I ask?

Concrete, practical questions tend to draw the clearest readings. Lenormand was always a fortune-teller's deck, and it does well with everyday matters: work, money, home, health, relationships. Open-ended framing helps too — "what should I know about this situation?" is more useful than "will I get the job?".

Which spread should I pick?

For a quick check-in, the 3-card spread is the everyday choice. For relationships, try the Relationship or Love spread. For a comprehensive life reading, the Grand Tableau lays the entire 36-card deck in its houses.

Which deck does the site use?

The traditional Petit Lenormand — the 36-card deck named after Marie Anne Lenormand, the French cartomancer to Napoleon's court in the early 1800s. This is the version used by almost every modern reader, so the meanings here will line up with what you've read elsewhere.

Can I use Lenormand for medical, legal, or financial decisions?

Please don't. The site is for reflection and entertainment only. For medical, legal, financial, or mental-health decisions, please consult a qualified professional. See our disclaimer for the full picture.

Something on the site looks wrong. What do I do?
